Advent Music

I'm a total sucker for Christmas music, not you average Jingle-Bell-Rock type garbage but Christmas-at New-College, Oxford amazing, ancient carol type music. I would start listening ti it sometime around Black Friday only my Mum (and my conscience) would let me. As I sat around wondering what I was going to listen to until December 24, I discovered Advent music. My two absolute favorites are People Look East and O Come, Divine Messiah, but my current favorite is Lo How a Rose E're Blooming.




Isaiah 'twas foretold it,
The Rose I have in mind;
With Mary we behold it,
The Virgin Mother kind.
To show God's love aright,
She bore the world a Savior,
When half spent was the night.

O Flow'r, whose fragrance tender
With sweetness fills the air,
Dispel with glorious splendor
The darkness everywhere.
True Man, yet very God,
From sin and death now save us
And lighten every load.
