When my Choir-Master godfather was here, over the summer, my family hosted a hymn-sing party. It was a whole lot of fun! We all stood out on my front porch and sang hymns, ending, of course, with Long Live the Pope. It was so much fun we decided to have another one.
Therefore, we hosted our Advent/early Christmas Carol-sing party last night. We all went to Advent Vespers (at 4:00) at St. Agatha's, then people drifted over to our house. There was food and goodies and kids running around and screaming and singing. So it was a very good, although noisy, party.
We sang some Advent stuff first, like O come Divine Messiah and The King Shall Come before proceeding to Christmas stuff. For that was sang a whole lot of stuff including, but no limited to, Adeste Fideles, O Little Town of Bethlehem (to the correct tune, not St. Louis), and finished off with O Holy Night. So, it was a lot of fun, even if we did have to sing a capella.
